SCHOOL RULES


STEALING/THEFT:

       Unauthorized removal of property that belongs to the School or anyone will not be tolerated.


FIGHTING:

       Physical or verbal assault of any kind will not be tolerated.  


UNLAWFUL MEETINGS AND DEMONSTRATION:

       Unauthorised gatherings and demonstrations will not be tolerated.  


TRUANTING LESSONS OR NOISE-MAKING:

       Wilfully skipping classes or talking loudly to disturb a class is considered an offence.  


DRUG ABUSE:

       Students are not permitted for any reason to be in possession of hard drugs. Students on special medication are expected to hand over such prescribed drugs to the School staff nurse for safe keeping and dispensing.  


GAMBLING:

       Illegal use of money or any other material possession for gaming is prohibited anywhere on the School ground.  


HARMFUL EQUIPMENT:

       Students are not allowed to be in possession of dangerous equipment i.e. fireworks, guns, knives, or any unacceptable property.  


CULT AND SECRET SOCIETIES:

        Cultism is prohibited in CBIS. Students confirmed to be connected in any way will be dealt with severely.  


EXAMINATION MALPRACTICE:

       Any student caught cheating during an examination will have all their papers cancelled.  


LATENESS TO SCHOOL:

       Students are expected to be punctual to School. Lateness will not be allowed in the School. The School gates will be shut by 8:00am. However, the official resumption time is 7:40am. Habitual late comers may be subject to community service.  


SCHOOL BELL:

       It is compulsory that every student obeys the School siren/bell to ensure that health and safety procedures are adhered to.  


LANGUAGE USE:

       The School’s official language of communication is English Language. French Language as well as National Languages will be used in an official capacity as is required.


ASSEMBLIES:

       It is mandatory that all Students attend School Assembly. Students are expected to sing and stand at attention when the National Anthem and National Pledge are being sung or cited.  


EATING HABITS:

       Students are expected to have their School and scheduled meal times in the canteen. Eating food or chewing gum is unacceptable inside the classrooms, laboratories, library or any study area/arena. A violation of this rule will lead to confiscation of food.  


COLLEGE UNIFORM AND DRESS CODE:

⦁ All Students are to wear the correct School Uniform at all times in the School and Hostel. Only Caleb School Shoes and White Socks can be worn to School along with the Uniform. Students not properly dressed will not be allowed in class.

⦁ It is compulsory for every student to wear his/her shirt or blouse properly tucked into the trouser or skirt. Shirts and blouses must be well buttoned always. Collars should not be left flying. The practice of pulling down trouser to the hip is unacceptable. Wearing of mufti whether in School or Hostel is highly prohibited, except otherwise directed.

⦁ All male Students must keep their hair well cut and low at all times.  

⦁ All female Students are to have their hair neatly made according to the rules. Extension/gel is not allowed. Dangling ear-rings are not allowed, only gold/silver studs should be used. Make-up of any sort is not allowed.  


TROUSERS FOR FEMALE STUDENTS:

       Female Students must not wear trousers or shorts of any sort in the School premises.  


ABSENCE FROM SCHOOL DURING TEST OR EXAMINATION:

       Students who are absent will not be given an alternative examination or test except the student concerned was sick at such times. However, a medical report from a recognized hospital must be submitted to confirm this claim before the child will be allowed to take an alternative examination or test, otherwise no examination or test will be given and such a student loses the marks for the examination and test accordingly.  


UNAUTHORISED EXTERNAL EXAMINATION:

       Caleb Students must not register for the November/December West Africa Examination meant for private candidates or any other similar external examination. Moreover, SS2 or SS3 Students would have to cover the specified syllabus for these examinations, hence, as a result of their absence during examination period; they miss out a whole term’s work in School. Student may be entered for these examination after their Senior Secondary three classes, if their parents so desire.  Students who are absent during any unauthorised examination will not be give an alternative examination of test they have missed. No medical report is tenable in this case.  


USED OF CELL PHONE:

       Cell phones are not permitted on the School premises. Any student found with a cell phone will have it confiscated till the end of the session.  


COMPLETION OF ASSIGNMENTS:

       Students who fail to do their assignments on a regular basis will be given a School detention to complete their work. Parents will be responsible for student’s transportation back home during detention days.  


TRUANTING IN THE HOSTEL:

       Students are not allowed to leave the Hostel without authorisation to do so. A suspension may be issued for an offender and subsequently, de-boarding from the Hostel may apply.  


VISITING:

       Students cannot be visited during School hours to avoid distractions. Boarders can only be visited on the specified days for visitation.  


SCHOOL FEES:

       Students are expected to be focused and avoid being distracted in anyway. To this end, Students’ fees are expected to be paid on or before the first day of term. Only Students who have completed their fees for the term will be allowed in the Hostel and School.  


INSUBORDINATION:

       The School will not tolerate any disrespectful behaviour or speech towards any staff.  


COLLEGE RELIGIOUS ACTIVITIES:

⦁ It is compulsory for every student of the School to have a copy of the Holy Bible, the School hymn book and a notebook for recording sermons given during preaching session. All these will be checked periodically.

⦁ It is compulsory for every student of the School to attend the following School’s religious activities:

⦁ Weekly Bible studies

⦁ General School Fellowship

⦁ Sunday School (Boarders)

⦁ Once a month all night prayer meetings (Boarders)

⦁ Retreat (Alone with God)

⦁ All other religious activities as the School deems fit.


BOARDING HOUSE REQUIREMENT:

       Students without complete boarding house requirements will not be allowed into the Hostel, such Students will be sent back home to his/her parent(s). If this becomes habitual, it may lead to de-boarding of the student.  


POCKET MONEY MUST BE IN STUDENTS’ ACCOUNT:

⦁ No student (boarder) is allowed to keep more than N500.00 (Five Hundred Naira only) on him/her at any time during class periods. Each boarder is expected to keep a personal account record of deposits/withdrawals of their money with the School’s Account Office in order to avoid any incidence of loss of money due to carelessness. The School will not take responsibility for the loss of money. It is at the child’s risk.

⦁ Day Students are not expected to keep more than N1000.00 (One Thousand Naira only) with them at any point in time. Any extra sum of money brought to School for any purpose should be kept in the Accounts Office for safe keeping. The School will not take responsibility for any loss of money. Keeping of money by individual Students above the specified amount is purely at owner’s risk.  


SMOKING:

       Use of drugs like Marijuana (weed) or the intake of cigarettes is strictly prohibited within the School premises.


RELATIONSHIP WITH THE OPPOSITE SEX:

⦁ Caleb Group of Schools is a co-educational institution where wholesome association is encouraged and considered necessary for personal development. However, only friendly relationships between males and females in open group activities are allowed.  Any conduct such as private walks, clandestine meetings and loitering in the dark or any other unacceptable behaviour MUST be avoided.

⦁ Students who practice any form of immoral act in the School or Hostel, inclusive of homosexuality and lesbianism will be dealt with severely.  


DRIVING: Students must not drive while in their School Uniform. Parents are advised to ensure that their underage children do not drive. Those who are of age to drive must obtain a driving license.  


LOSS OF PERSONAL PROPERTY:

Students are expected to keep their property both in School and in the Hostel safely. Hence, everything belonging to Students must be clearly marked in the owner’s name for ease of identification. The School will take no responsibility for any loss of items by a Student.  


CONCLUSION:

All offences/violations of any kind by any student is punishable by the Disciplinary Committee.
